Lions, tigers and bears; oh my. Spooky spooks, ferocious animals and superheroes prowl the streets seeking the tasty tidbits their prey possess. Growls and shuffling feet accompany the primal call, “Trick or Treat”.
It is times like these which prompt me to grab the camera and click, click, click. Who can resist the toddler dressed as Eeyore or a giant ladybug? Chocolate covered chins sporting irresistible grins beg for a camera lens. I am more than happy to oblige, capturing these ‘once in a lifetime’ moments. After all, that tiny bumble bee costume will not be tolerated for long.
With the turn of seasons come the turn of leaves. I am continually amazed how each fall, Mother Nature paints her canvas. Unimaginable colors cover foliage leaving all in awe. These landscapes beg to be captured on film. Second to shooting people, One of my other loves to photograph is natural scenery. To neglect shooting these sites can only be defined as tragic neglect.
October is a busy month with focus on Breast Cancer as well as Pregnancy and Infant Loss awareness. For years I have been active in donating my time and resources to a unique organization, Now I Lay Me Down to Sleep Foundation. This organization provides amazing resources for families who tragically lose their infant. As a volunteer, I help families through the grief and healing process in an uncharacteristic manner. Often when a child is lost during the birth process, a photo album is the last thing on a family’s mind. This organization, at no cost, provides a manner for these families to, “allow families to honor and cherish their babies, and share the spirits of their lives.” For more information visit www.nowilaymedowntosleep.org.
I eagerly anticipate the coming month and all the unique opportunities fall brings. Watch as I update my website with the transition into fall.
