Where in the heck did 2011 go? As I rip the final of November off the calendar, I cannot help but notice that this year has literally zipped by. One minute I’m talking about the relentless summertime heat and now the December chill has me literally turning up the heat indoors. Brrrr! That’s right friends and fam, you read that correctly, I wrote December which as you know is the final month of the year and a clear indication that 2011 is coming to a close. Another tell-tale sign is that the Ho-Ho-Holiday Season is upon us and in full swing. I’m feeling it; are you? Well, if you’re not, soon you will be as it seems everyone is jumping on the Holiday bandwagon. The streets are decked out with decorations, the malls are crowded with holiday shoppers, the radio stations Holiday music previews have transitioned to full fledge round the clock entertainment, TV specials air each night to add to the seasonal hype and let’s not forget that contagious yet very welcome holiday fever we’re all willing to catch. It’s truly ‘the most wonderful time of the year’ and Photography by Chanda is going to one of the happiest places on earth to experience that and more.

 

Where are we going? I’ll give you a hint…Ready? ‘M-I-C….K-E-Y”. Have you guessed it? That’s right! Mickey Mouse’s hometown. ‘Tis the time of year to spend with friends and family and so we’re heading to Florida to the ‘big ears’ aka Disneyworld, for Christmas. We are so excited! We’re going to be with an amazing family to create wonderful memories at this incredibly magical place.  To ensure we’re joyful and cheerful, we’ve got a lot planned to cater to not only the kids but our inner-children as well. And to see to that, our fabulous Jo-Jo is coming along with us to make sure the kiddos let us parents, the kids at heart, have some fun too! Thanks Jo-Jo!

But before the fun heads south for part of the winter, we’ve got a ton of things to do. Most people would say their jobs are all work and no play but in reality our job is a perfect blend of work and play. We enjoy what we do so despite being busy, we have a blast! Just like all the other months preceding this one, December brings with it a jam-packed schedule of family and child sessions. We’re also finishing up Christmas cards, New Year’s Eve cards and just about everything in between. Busy and blessed is our mantra this month.

Blessings are often plentiful and bountiful this time of year and yet another of mine occurs this December 24th.

My precious Preston who I like to call my Christmas miracle turns 7. We’re celebrating his big day early so we can have some friends over for his big Dino Bash. It’ll be Jurassic…LOL! On a serious note, I’m sure Christmas Eve holds a special place in most of your hearts, but for me it goes beyond holiday heartwarming. It is a day that I will never forget because it’s a day that special peeps literally saved my life. Special people like Bonnie Hendrick whose name I will remember for the rest of my days. She is more than just a head nurse to me; she is a lifesaver through and through. She and countless others went above and beyond the call of duty that December 24th, 7 years ago, to ensure that I made it, that Preston made it, that we made it and as a result, I am forever grateful and thankful to them.

While on the subject of thankfulness, Photography by Chanda wants to say a big THANK YOU to all of you for letting us be a part of your lives. We’ve truly enjoyed traveling all over the country this year capturing your most tender, loving, outrageous, sentimental, heartwarming, heart wrenching, intoxicating and gracious moments. And to add sugar to the blissful sweetness of this thing we call ‘work’, it is incredibly touching to have our clients become our amazing friends! Talk about perks of the job!

As the final newsletter of 2011 comes to a close, we want to tell you that we are really looking forward to making new memories and new friends in the year to come so bring on 2012! We’ve got big plans so stay tuned to see where we headed…..from Fa La Las to Ooooh La Las, we’re doing it all!
